Core transmission technology of future optical network-WDM
WDM breakthrough the limit of traditional SDH network capacity,will become the core transmission technology of future optical network.
Depending on the channel spacing, WDM (WavelengthDivisionMultiplexing, wavelength division multiplexing) can be divided into DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) and CWDM (sparse wavelength division multiplexing) these two technologies. DWDM is the first choice in the field of optical fiber transmission technology, but CWDM also has its place.
In 2006, fire, equipment factory manufacturers such as huawei launched its own DWDM system, domestic operators also carried out the relevant tests and small-scale commercial. Future DWDM in the demanding on the rate of transmission network will play an irreplaceable role, such as the use of DWDM to construction backbone.
Relative to the DWDM, CWDM has low cost, low power consumption, small size, low requirements for optical fiber etc. In the next few years, telecom operators will strictly control the network construction cost, the CWDM technology have their own living space, it is suitable for fast, low cost business network construction, such as used in the metropolitan area and the local access network, metropolitan area core network of small and medium-sized cities, etc.
